Police recover IED in Assam on Republic Day

Jorhat/ Imphal, Jan 26 (ANI): Police officials recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and later demolished it in Assam on Monday (January 26), on the occasion of country’s 66th Republic Day. Police said they recovered the bomb from the boundary wall of a refinery godown in Jorhat city. The IED weighing two kilogram was wrapped in black polythene bag. Later, the Bomb Disposal Squad of Assam Police detonated the bomb. Earlier in the day low intensity blasts rocked Imphal city in Manipur. Police personnel were deployed at key locations in Imphal leading towards the venue of Republic Day celebrations. Police say woman carried bomb that killed two in Arrah

Patna/Arrah, Jan 23 (ANI): Police on Friday said a woman carried the bomb that led to two deaths, including hers and injured many in Arrah city of Bihar. A crude bomb exploded outside a courtroom in Bihar on Friday, killing two people and wounding ten, just days before Republic Day ceremonies that have been attacked in the past in troubled parts of the country. The blast occurred in Arrah town in Bihar, parts of which have been racked by a Maoist insurgency. Both the dead were women, including a police constable. The Additional Director General of Bihar Police, Gupteshwar Pandey, said the site had been sealed off and investigation has been launched. Two killed, at least 14 injured in Bomb explosion at Arrah civil court in Bihar

Arrah, Jan 23 (ANI): Two persons, including a woman, have been killed in a bomb explosion in a civil court in Arrah district of Bihar on Friday. The police said a woman was carrying the bomb and was killed when it exploded. A policeman also died. At least 14 people have been injured. The deceased was yet to be identified as more details about the incident are awaited. There is a nationwide security alert ahead of US President Barack Obama's visit to India which begins on Sunday.
