BSE closes points 40.95 up on Feb 16

New Delhi, Feb 16 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 40.95 points up to stand at 29,135.88. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 3.85 points up to stand at 8,809.35. SUZLON and TATA ELXSI LTD. were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 19.84% and 15.71% along with CEAT LTD. And UNITECH with an increase of 13.30% and 11.08% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include CESC and BALKRISHNA INDUSTRIES LTD. with a decrease of 13.17% and 5.27% along with MRPL and RASOYA PROTEINS LTD. with a decrease of 4.91% and 4.84% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 87.28 points at 19,674.22 while the banking sector is down 204.51 points at 21,982.99 and the reality sector is up at 16.25 points at 1,737.34. Legal professionals strengthened freedom movement of India: PM Modi

Mumbai, Feb 15 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the legal professionals strengthened country's freedom movement, while addressing concluding Sesquicentennial Function of the Advocates Association of Western India (AAWI) in Mumbai city. Having a legacy of 150 years, said Modi, was of paramount importance and that people associated with AAWI could take pride in the fact that it produced lawyers like father of nation, Mahatma Gandhi and freedom fighter Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Modi also inaugurated a Permanent Judicial Museum at Bombay High Court set up as part of sesquicentennial celebrations. He also emphasised upon the need to strengthen people's faith in the institution of judiciary. Taking pride in his government doing away with 1700 existing laws, he said drafts for new laws should be available online to bar association. The country, added Modi, needs forensic science universities to produce efficient lawyers to fight against ever increasing cyber crime. Feb 15, 2015

It happens : Visually challenged experience car driving in Mumbai

Mumbai, Feb 13 (ANI): The Blind Man Car Rally in Mumbai city on Sunday gave an opportunity to visually impaired people to experience car driving and showcase their abilities. At the rally, the sighted drivers were navigated by visually impaired individuals, with their route mapped in Braille. Around 103 visually impaired navigators were selected to drive across pre-selected city circuit. The rally, which was organised by Bombay Round Table 2, aims at making society aware of the challenges faced by visually impaired people. Meanwhile, the sighted drivers said they enjoyed helping the people in need and more such events can boost the confidence of people with disabilities. The car rally, which is an annual event, is a time distance rally and not a race. The registration amount is used for the welfare of the visually handicapped and the education of underprivileged children. Feb 13, 2015
