Sharp hike in food prices dampens festive spirit of Ramadan in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 05 (ANI): The sharp hike in the prices of essential commodities during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan has dampened the festive spirit in Kashmir. During the holy month, consumption of these essential commodities increases automatically as compared to other months. Another resident, Farooq Ahmad blaming the government said that the price of vegetables and fruits varies on a daily basis. Soaring prices of basic goods such as milk and potatoes lifted retail food inflation in May to 9.4 percent and there have been fears of worse to come with the delayed spread of the monsoon to the grain bowl region of northwest India. Congress to raise demand for LoP Post in court, Politicos react

New Delhi, July 05 (ANI): Political reactions came in as Congress is mulling the option of moving court if it is denied the post of leader of opposition in Lok Sabha. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said that the Congress will only be embarrassed if they go to court to have their demand to be assigned the post of the Leader of Opposition (LoP), as they don't have the required number of seats. Party Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi also advised the Congress to stop running after positions. Indians walk to mark international anti-drug abuse day

New delhi, June 26 (ANI): Hundreds of people participated in a walkathon in New Delhi on Thursday to raise public awareness about the drug abuse and to mobilize support against illicit trafficking. United Nations General Assembly in 1987 decided to observe June 26 as the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse. The organisers hoped the campaign would send out a strong message of positive health, fitness and well-being and encourage participants to adopt a healthy lifestyle and build a drug-free environment. Music bands of Indian Coast Guard also participated in the walkathon. Commandant, Indian Coast Guard, K. P.
