Mumbai, April 27 (ANI): Re polling is being observed in four areas of Maharashtra on Sunday out of which three are in Mumbai and one in Ahmednagar. The re-poll is taking place because of some technical issues occurred on the actual poll day. BJP leader Ram Naik highlighted the reasons and consequences of re-poll. Another BJP leader Gopal Shetty apologized to the public for this inconvenience caused at the cost of officials’ flaw. Meanwhile voter KN Mehta expressed the public view about re-polling and the possible reasons behind it. Re polling is also taking place in Assam and West Bengal. Voter turnout increases as 6th phase of polls come to an end

New Delhi/ Maldah/ Madurai/ Agra, April 25 (ANI): As India passed its second biggest day of polling with people of 117 constituencies on 11 states and one Union Territory cast their ballots, the national aggregate of turnout increased marginally. The EC said there was improvement in the turnout when compared to figures of 2009. In Bihar, where voting was conducted on seven seats with 108 candidates in fray, voter turnout was recorded at 60 percent as compared to 52.7 percent in 2009 general elections. In Jharkhand, polling was done in four seats with 72 candidates contesting the elections. The voter turnout was recorded at 63 percent as compared to 53 percent in 2009 elections. Maharashtra/ Uttar Pradesh/ Madhya Pradesh, April 24 (ANI): Polling is underway for the sixth phase of th 16th Lok Sabha elections. Voting is taking place for 117 constituencies spread over 11 states and one union territory. These are - 39 seats in Tamil Nadu, 19 in Maharashtra, 12 in Uttar Pradesh, 10 in Madhya Pradesh, 7 each in Bihar and Chhattisgarh, 6 each in Assam and West Bengal, 5 in Rajasthan, 4 in Jharkhand and one each in Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Puducherry. Europe, April 14: India's northeastern region has been affected by prolonged insurgency. Several militant outfits, including the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) in Assam, Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) in Nagaland, People's Liberation Army (PLA) and United National Liberation Front (UNLF) in Manipur, are operating from the land-locked region, which shares international boundaries with China, Bhutan, Myanmar and Bangladesh. These insurgent are surviving with backing from across the border. Experts believe that intelligence agencies of China and Pakistan remain the backbone of insurgency in India's northeastern states. Insurgent groups from the Northeast are being provided assistance in the form of money and weapons by Chinese agencies, routed through the ISI, to create instability in the region. This is a deadly concoction of terror that is being used to destabilise India. It is believed, the Chinese are now using northeast based insurgent outfits to supply arms to Maoists in India. LS Polls 2014: Assam, Tripura, Sikkim and Goa begin voting

Goa/ Assam/ Tripura, April 12 (ANI): Voting in four states, namely Assam, Goa, Sikkim and Tripura began on Saturday, with voters casting ballots that would decide the fate of over 1.2 billion people. Polling began at 7am in four states for seven consituencies, namely three seats in Assam, two in Goa and one each in Sikkim and Tripura. Around 50 lakh voters will vote for 74 candidates in the four states. Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who was amongst the early voters, pinned hopes on his party. In Goa, 19 candidates are in the fray for the North and South Goa constituencies, which will witness a single phased poll. While Assam has nearly 30 million eligible voters, Goa has over 1 million. Sikkim has a 362,326 electorate, of which 175,549 are women. As many as 1.13 million electorate are eligible to vote as 12 candidates battle it out for the Tripura East constituency. Apr 12, 2014
