Kedarnath, Dec 30 (ANI): Work is in full swing in temple town of Kedarnath, the epicentre of the worst flooding across Uttarakhand last year, which killed at least 6,000 people. The state authorities have approved a reconstruction and rehabilitation plan for Kedarnath, one of the holiest shrines of the Hindus. It is banking on the recommendations of the Geological Survey of India for planning reconstruction and rehabilitation work at Kedarnath. The institute is also building a helipad of 150 metres by 50 metres, the biggest in the town, to enable Indian Air Force's Mi-26 choppers to carry construction materials and equipments at the sites. But the weather plays truant with construction work gets hampered by the dipping temperatures. It has been decided not to allow any construction activity around the temple, which bore the brunt of the floods. Dec 30, 2014

New Delhi, Dec 29 (ANI): A survey has revealed that under the festive stress, many married couples may split in the coming year. As per the experts, around 25 percent used the holidays for an attempt to patch up their differences, but being together for so long with the other stresses of the festive season, puts more pressure on the relationship, online portal reported. Politicos react as PM Narendra Modi comes second in list of 30 top-performing world leaders

New Delhi, Dec 19 (ANI): Politicos on Friday react as Prime Minister Narendra Modi was placed No 2, behind Chinese President Xi Jinping, in a list of 30 top-performing world leaders by a Japanese market research firm. The survey of more than 26,000 respondents, conducted this fall by Tokyo-based GMO Research rated Xi, Modi, and Merkel the top-performing world leaders, with scores of 7.5, 7.3, and 7.2 respectively on a scale of one to 10. While BJPandShiv Sena welcomed the same and said that it was natural that the world is recognizing Modi as world leader, Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that it is for Indian citizens to decide on performance of Modi. Students pen longest letter to PM Modi on the 2nd anniversary of Delhi gang rape

New Delhi, Dec 16 (ANI): Students on Tuesday (December 16) penned the longest letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking safety for women and faster penalty of the accused as the country observes the second anniversary of the brutal gang rape of a 23-year-old physiotherapy student on a bus in New Delhi. A poll published by a newspaper said 90 percent of 2,557 women surveyed, did not see any improvements in safety. The same survey found 86 percent of respondents avoided going out alone after dark. Police and government officials argue that a host of measures have been introduced to improve safety, but add that violence against women is a far more deep-rooted problem which cannot be solved easily.
