Pentagon report says Pak using militants as proxies to counter India, Reactions flow

New Delhi/ RS Pura, Nov 04 (ANI): The Pentagon has brought to the attention of the US Congress Pakistan's use of militant groups as proxies. The Pentagon told the US Congress in its latest report 'Progress Towards Security and Stability in Afghanistan'. The report cites the militant attack on the Indian consulate in Herat in Afghanistan in May, which came just ahead of Narendra Modi taking charge as the prime minister. Pentagon also suggested that Pakistan's 'relationships' with militant groups is detrimental to regional stability, especially in neighbouring Afghanistan. Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju while commenting on the pentagon report over Pakistan's proxy war against the country said on Tuesday (November 04) that the nuclear armed neighbour has a policy of state sponsored militancy. Rijiju added that nothing is hidden and everyone is aware about the acts of Pakistan. Security Expert Praful Bakshi said that Pakistan has realised that their army can not confront Indian army. Srinagar, Nov 04 (ANI): Indian army ensured water tight security and round the clock vigil in Kashmir ahead of assembly polls after a suicide bomber blew himself up near Wagah border on the Pakistan side, killing almost 60 people and injuring several others. The five-phase polls in Jammu and Kashmir will begin on November 25 and end on December 20. The results would be announced on December 23. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was a response to the Pakistani army's actions against their positions in tribal areas straddling Pakistan's border with Afghanistan. Lahore, Nov 03 (ANI): At least 55 people were killed and more than 150 injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up near the Indo- Pak border. The attack occurred shortly after a daily ceremony when troops from both sides simultaneously lower the two nations' flags. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was a response to the Pakistani army's actions against their positions in tribal areas straddling Pakistan's border with Afghanistan. State police Chief Mushtaq Sukhera said that the explosion hit near the checkpoint at the Wagah border crossing as hundreds of people were returning from the military ceremony on the outskirts of Lahore. The daily flag-hoisting ceremonies by the Pakistani and the Indian military on their respective sides of the border draw crowds of hundreds.
