India condemns racial discrimination against Sikh boy in US, calls for action

New Delhi, March 03 (ANI): India on Tuesday condemned racial attack against a Sikh boy in the US state of Georgia and called for action by the government of India as well as the US over the same. A young Sikh boy in US has been called a "terrorist" by a group of school children, with the video of the abuse now going viral on the Internet. In the video posted on Inquisitr, the bespectacled Sikh boy is seen sitting in what appears to be a school bus and is surrounded by students. The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President, Manjit Singh GK condemned the incident and said that a survey says that 60 per cent of Americans doesn't know who Sikhs are, 48 percent of Americans think Sikhs are Arabs or Afghans. Singh further appealed to the Government of India to hold talks with the American Government over awareness about Sikhs. India in sweet spot to achieve sustainable double-digit growth: Economic Adviser

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Chief Economic Adviser at the finance ministry, Arvind Subramanian, on Friday (February 27) said that India was in a sweet spot to achieve sustainable double-digit growth and the country was a recovering economy. The Economic Survey, the basis for Jaitley's budget for the fiscal year starting April 1, forecast growth of 8.1 percent to 8.5 percent under new calculations that make India the world's most dynamic big economy. The forecast marks an acceleration from growth of 7.4 percent in the current fiscal year. Other indicators of India's economy are not as rosy as Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data suggests. Finance minister gives final touches to budget

New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): Finance minister Arun Jaitley on Friday gave final touches to 2015-16 budget a day ahead of its presentation in Parliament. Jaitley was accompanied by his junior colleague Jayant Sinha and officials. The economic survey, the basis for Jaitley's budget for the fiscal year starting April 1, forecast the economy would grow by 8.1-8.5 percent under a new calculation method that makes India the world's top-growing big economy.
