Vodafone Foundation helps save mothers’ and children’s lives in one of the world’s worst HIV hotspots

Maboe, 43, and her son Motsamai, 6, are HIV positive. They now receive regular treatment close to home through the Vodafone Foundations mobile treatment programme in Lesotho. The programme combines Vodafone’s M-Pesa mobile money service with travelling clinics and a smartphone app which enables the tracking of patients in remote areas. The Vodafone Foundations travelling clinics use a fleet of 4 x 4 vehicles to provide on-site HIV testing in remote areas as part of a wider effort to provide basic primary healthcare. Dec 1, 2016

Fakes news: Corona beer founder has not turned Spanish villagers into millionaires

Antonino Fernández, the founder and chairman of Corona Beer brewery Grupo Modelo, died a billionaire aged 99 in August. He came from humble beginnings in the small village of Cerezales del Condado in the north-western Spanish province of Leon. After marrying his wife Cinia González Díez in Spain, the couple moved to Mexico where they began working for the Grupo Modelo brewery, owned by her uncle. By 1971 Fernández was CEO of the company, turning Corona into an export phenomenon. Now hes giving back to the village where he was raised. Nov 25, 2016
