Udhampur, Sep 10 (ANI): Three terrorists were killed in an encounter that broke out in Keran sector of Kupwara District on Wednesday morning. The encounter operation was launched by the army after they had specific information about their movement in the Keran sector. The identity of the terrorists is not yet known. PRO Defence, S D Goswami said that three militants have been killed in the Kishanganj range near Line of Control. He further said that they have recovered three AK-47 rifles, 15 magazines and 319 rounds of ammunitions. Sep 10, 2014

Karimganj, Sep 06 (ANI): In another shameful crime against women, two school girls were found dead in Karimganj district in Assam. Two Assam school girls, who had been missing from their homes since Wednesday, were found hanging from a tree on Thursday in the state's Karimganj district, close to the Bangladesh border. The police suspect that the girls were raped and then murdered. According to the police, the bodies have been recovered and sent for a post-mortem. Only after the post-mortem and forensic reports, will the police be able determine the cause of death and if the girls had been molested. Assam, Sep 06 (ANI): Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar took stock of animal poaching in Kaziranga National Park in Assam and said that strict action is needed to save the wildlife. Javadekar arrived in Assam for a two-day visit where he observed the measures to conserve the wildlife, existing infrastructure besides discussing about the rapid shrinking forest cover in the northeast region. Later, while addressing a news conference, Javadekar said that the ministry will speed up CBI probe over the issue and that they had zero tolerance over the same. Assam Nagaland border calm after centre intervenes

Assam, Sept 06 (ANI): There have been no fresh incidents of violence and curfew has been relaxed in Golaghat district. Security continues to remain tight in the border area, with round the clock patrolling and army flag march. Meanwhile, the Chief Ministers of Assam and Nagaland have agreed to resolve the long pending border issues by setting up a joint mechanism, following a meeting with Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju in Guwahati. Both the state governments have assured that they will be working together to resolve the issue and restore peace in the disputed border area. The two sides have agreed to meet frequently and work jointly to defuse the tension and build confidence among the people living along the border. Enquiry committees have been constituted to look into the incident and 15 people have been apprehended in Nagaland.
