Philip Hammond: British people did not vote on June 23rd to become poorer, or less secure

Chancellor Philip Hammond has unveiled a set of policies designed to shore up Britains economy during a period of turbulence which he has forecast as a result of Brexit. Speaking to the Conservative conference in Birmingham, Hammond offered a new guarantee to continue payments of any multi-year EU grants secured by British businesses and organisations before withdrawal - probably in March 2019. John McDonnell: Labour will introduce a real Living Wage

Speaking at the Labour conference in Liverpool on 26 September, shadow chancellor John McDonnell said a Labour government would introduce a real Living Wage of more than £10 ($12.90) per hour. The policy would see Labour better the governments promise by £1 an hour.The close ally of re-elected leader Jeremy Corbyn, McDonnell also promised a Labour government would get rid of the Trade Union Act within the first 100 days of power.
