Lucknow/ New Delhi, Feb 24 (ANI): Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has cancelled his visit to Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) after protests against the UP government's handling of the Muzaffarnagar riots. Yadav was to address a seminar on the campus on Monday. There were protests on the campus by a section of teachers after Yadav was invited to the seminar organised by Sir Syed Movement.The reason for the cancellation was said to be the model code of conduct. Meanwhile, the BJP and Congress supported the protests against Mulayam's visit and said that this was expected as Muslim community was deeply hurt by the way the Samajwadi party handled the Muzaffarnagar riots. New Delhi/ Ludhiana, Feb 07 (ANI): The Delhi cabinet approved the set up of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the 1984 anti-Sikh riots within a time frame of one year, following the suggestion by national capital government to Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung. Police officers from outside Delhi would be responsible for conducting an inquiry in the case. AAP leader Sanjay Singh said this step would ensure a speedy and unbiased investigation in the case and would help in punishing the people involved in abetting the deadly riots. New Delhi, Feb 06 (ANI): After a cabinet meet, AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Thursday said that the Delhi government has asked the Lieutenant Governor to form a SIT to probe into 1984 riots case and also requested that the police in the case will be brought from outside.
