Real estate sector witnesses a growth in Assam

Guwahati, Dec 10 (ANI): Guwahati city in Assam is a growing hub for trade and commerce activity in the Northeast. And, this has opened up new vistas for the real estate industry. Shopping malls, showrooms, apartments and hotels - the changing face of the city has made it a favorite destination for investors. Real estate developers are venturing in to the city to tap the potential. In recent years, the city, like most of the other bigger cities in the country has witnessed a sharp rise in the demand for flats, both for residential and commercial purpose. A large number of real estate developers, including from abroad, are eying to develop housing and commercial infrastructure in Assam. They participated in a recently concluded four-day long Realty summit. Organized by the Assam Real Estate and Infrastructure Developers' Association (AREIDA), it invited experts from various infrastructure development related fields to discuss wide range of issues. The summit was suspended earlier in September after the South African government failed to issue a visa for the Dalai Lama who wanted to attend the summit in Cape Town. Govt creating shelf of 500 ready-to-launch projects for infrastructure growth: Nitin Gadkari

New Delhi, Dec 09 (ANI): Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday said that the government was creating a shelf of 500 ready-to-launch projects to bolster infrastructure in the country and will start necessary processes soon. Addressing an Infrastructure summit, organised by Indo American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) in New Delhi, Gadkari said that out of 2, 80, 000 crore rupees worth of projects, 1, 80, 000 crore rupees had already been put to use. Gadkari said that tenders would be given once all necessary processes were dealt with. The projects, he said, cost more than 3 lakh crore rupees. He added that the cabinet had taken a decision to make model agreement to solve discrepancies. Jammu, Nov 28 (ANI): Search operation was tightened in Jammu and Kashmir to look for militant hideouts after gunmen wearing army uniforms attacked an army base near the border with Pakistan, leaving ten people dead in the worst militant violence in more than a year. On Friday morning, army personnel conducted thorough search operation in the villages in Jammu region. Several tanks, arms and ammunitions were also arranged by them in a bid to prevent any further untoward happenings. The Thursday's incident came as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif had a brief meeting at a summit of South Asian leaders in Nepal that clinched a deal to create a regional electricity grid. Four or five gunmen split into two groups upon arriving in the town of Arnia, about four km (3 miles) from the border, with one group attacking an army bunker and the other holed up in a house, a senior army officer had said.
