New Delhi, Jan 11 (ANI): Social activists reacted on Sunday after the body of a 30-year-old woman was recovered from a DDA nursery in Vasant Kunj area with the police suspecting that she was killed after being gang raped. NCW former chairperson Mamta Sharma said that police is inactive everywhere which is leading to increase in crime against women. Social activist Jagmati Sangwan slammed BJP for giving false hopes of curbing crime against women. Social Activist Annie Raja also condemned the incident. Jan 11, 2015

Woman attacked with acid in Delhi, Social activists condemn

New Delhi, Jan 11 (ANI): Social activists on Sunday strongly condemned the acid attack on a 30-year-old woman that took place in North West Delhi's Keshav Puram area. According to the reports, the woman suffered severe burns when two bike-borne men threw acid on her. One of the accused arrested by the police has been indentified as the woman's landlord. NCW former chairperson Mamta Sharma said that there is a need for better implementation of laws relating to women. Social Activist Jagmati Sangwan and Annie Raja also expressed similar sentiments. Petition filed in India against US firm for using Mahatma Gandhi's image on beer cans

Hyderabad/ New Delhi, Jan 04 (ANI): A lawyer in Hyderabad city of Andhra Pradesh filed a petition on Sunday against a US liquor company for using iconic freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi's picture on beer cans. New England Brewing Company came out with beer cans named 'Gandhi-Bot' claiming that their intention was to pay homage to Gandhi. He also said that using Gandhi's image on the beer cans is punishable under Indian laws. Matt Westfall, head brewer and partner at the New England Brewing Company, has apologised on behalf of the company through mail. Meanwhile, CPI leader D Raja said the American company should understand the sentiments of people. CPI leader Atul Anjan also slammed the foreign company for the same and said that India would oppose this if US President Barack Obama does not take cognizance of the matter. Jan 4, 2015
