Jairam Ramesh lauds new Land Acquisition Act

Chennai, Oct 16 (ANI): Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday lauded the new land acquisition act as it guarantees fair compensation to the farmers, apart from making rehabilitation easy for those who were rendered landless. The new Land Acquisition Bill, which would come into effect from January 1, 2013. Ramesh while addressing a news conference in Chennai said that the priority of the new act was fair compensation and transparency. Ramesh also said that it would benefit the farmers. Commenting on the Food Security Act, Ramesh said that it was oriented primarily for those states which suffer from acute poverty and malnutrition. Oct 16, 2013
