Akkineni multistarrer movie casting late ANR, Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya in the lead roles has completed the censor formalities and the censor board has cleared the film with U/A certification. Directed by Vikram Kumar, Manam is a family entertainer set in different time frames with a distinct screenplay. The movie casts Shriya and Samantha as lead ladies alongside Nag and Naga Chaitanya. Nagarjuna produced the film under Annapurna Studios banner with Anup Rubens as music composer. Manam being Akkineni’s family entertainer and ANR’s last film, It is much awaited movie among the fans. Criticism on his remark on Kargil war hero Vikram Batra deeply hurts Modi

Chhattisgarh/ Himachal Pradesh/ New Delhi, April 30 (ANI): BJP’s Prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, who invoked sentiments in the name of Kargil war hero Vikram Batra while campaigning in Himachal Pradesh, said he was deeply hurt with the criticism and distortion of his remark by political opponents. Earlier on Tuesday, Modi was addressing an election rally in Palampur, the hometown of the Kargil war hero when he referred to Batra's catch-phrase of "Yeh Dil Maange More" (the heart wants more) to seek votes for all four seats from Himachal Pradesh in the ongoing parliamentary polls. However, his remark evoked criticism from political opponents and from late Captain Batra’s parents. The late soldier’s father, G L Batra, condemned the remark made by Modi. Vikram Batra’s mother, Kamal Kanta, is fighting the parliamentary election from Hamirpur constituency in Himachal Pradesh under the banner of the Aam Aadmi Party. Apr 30, 2014

Regional leaders in Tamil Nadu pay tribute to Major Mukund Vardarajan killed in Shopian

Chennai, April 28 (ANI): The Tamil Nadu government and the regional Congress leaders on Monday paid homage to one of the security personnel, Major Mukund Vardarajan at his Chennai residence. Major Mukund Vardarajan and sepoy Vikram Singh were killed by militants during an overnight gun battle that started Friday in Shopian, which is 55 kilometres away from Kashmir's summer capital Srinagar. Senior Congress leader E V K S Elangovan said fighting militancy is the biggest challenge in front of the country. Both the security personnel are survived by their wives and children. Acting on a tip-off about a militant hideout, security forces launched the search operation to flush them out. The militants were reportedly asked to surrender but they resorted to firing, triggering the gunfight. Apr 28, 2014

Guard of honour for two Army officers killed in Shopian encounter

New Delhi, April 28 (ANI): The security personnel, who were killed in an encounter in Shopian town of Jammu and Kashmir, were given guard of honour by the Indian Army. Major Mukund Vardarajan and sepoy Vikram Singh were killed by militants during an overnight gun battle that started Friday in Shopian. The bodies were flown back to Delhi from Srinagar and is being sent to their respective hometowns. While Major Vardarajan’s body is sent to his home in Chennai, while sepoy Vikram Singh’s body will be arriving at his home in Haryana. Northern Commander of the Indian Army Lieutenant General, Sanjiv Chachra laid wreath on the coffins during the guard of honour and acknowledged Major Vardarajan’s leadership while respecting his sacrifice.
