Khunti, Mar 12 (ANI): Police arrested three Maoists in Khunti district of Jharkhand. The arrest took place after an encounter between police and members of rebel outfit People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) in Murhu forests in the district. During the encounter, 25 rounds were fired by the police. The Superintendent of Police (SP) of Khunti, Aneesh Gupta, said a commander of PLFI, Pradeep Karkatta who was behind many major Maoist incidents was also arrested. Mar 12, 2014

Mumbai, March 07 (ANI): Just weeks before INS Kolkata (officially called Yard 701), was to be commissioned, the warship was hit by an accident at the Mazgoan Dockyard in Mumbai on Friday. A naval officer was killed and two others were injured in the accident. The warship was undergoing fitments and trials when the mishap occurred in its engine room. The officer who perished was identified as Commander Kuntal Wadhwa. Officers knew INS Sindhuratna was defective: Brother of a victim

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Two naval officers, who had gone missing after an accident on board submarine INS Sindhuratna, have been found dead. Seven crew members out of more than 60 aboard the diesel-powered vessel were airlifted to a naval hospital after inhaling smoke, but the two officers - Lieutenant Commander Kapish Muwal and Lieutenant Commander Manoranjan Kumar - could not be found. The two officers who went missing were on duty on board when smoke filled parts of a Russian-built submarine on a training exercise off the Mumbai coast in the early hours of February 26 morning. Brother of Lieutenant Commander Kapish Muwal, Aashish said the incident is due to negligence as everyone knew about the defects in the submarine and it proved to be fatal. Feb 28, 2014

Pakistan air force to provide training to Iraqi air force

Islamabad, Feb 11 (ANI): Commander of the Iraqi Air Force, Lt. General Anwer Hamad Ameen Ahmed, who is on a visit to Pakistan with a nine-member delegation, met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. A statement issued from the Prime Minister’s office said, during the meeting with Sharif, two agreements were signed between PAF and the Iraqi air force. According to the first agreement, PAF will provide training to Iraq Air Defence Force personnel in all spheres of modern Air Force concepts pertaining to special Air Defence and Air Crew.
