Rohtas, Jan 14 (ANI): In a joint combing operation with paramilitary force, police has arrested four Maoists from Rohtas district of Bihar. Huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered in the ambush on Tuesday. The security forces recovered two rifles, 13 single barrel guns, a pistol, 78 bullets, two sacks of gunpowder, batteries used in making Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), 21 splitters used in bombs and several kilograms of explosives. Superintendent of Police (SP), Chandan Kumar Kushwaha, said the arrests were made after a two-day-long combing operation in Kaimur hills and forest tracts of Banda village in the district. Indian army organizes blood donation camp in Kashmir

Budgam, Jan 13 (ANI): Indian army organised a blood donation camp in Jammu and Kashmir in a bid to reach out to the local residents. Many soldiers, along with residents, donated blood at the camp organised in Budgam district. General Officer Commanding Kilo Force of Rashtriya Rifles, Asit Mishra, said that blood donation is the highest form of humanism. Requirement of blood has always been high in the state due to militancy and insurgency activities. The army said it planned to take up similar projects in the future. Huge cache of ammunition recovered from police constable in Assam

Guwahati, Jan 13 (ANI): Police recovered huge cache of ammunition, including a grenade, from a police constable in Guwahati city of Assam. The constable was detained at Guwahati railway station while trying to transport the ammunition to neighbouring state of Bihar. Police officer, Sisir Bhatta said that the arrested constable is a cadre of the Meghalaya Police. Rai, in his defence said that he did not intend to give the bullets to anyone. Reportedly, Guwahati police has sought help from Meghalaya Police in order to proceed with the investigation. Guwahati, Jan 12 (ANI): North-eastern state of Assam gears up to celebrate harvest festival, traditionally known in the local language as Magh Bihu or Bhogali Bihu, falling on January 15. In the run-up to the festival, which is celebrated with great fervour in the state, a non-profit organisation held an exhibition to welcome the festival. Mouthwatering delicacies like ‘pitha’ or pancakes and many other traditional food items, prepared by local women, were up for sale in various stalls at the exhibition. The festival of Bihu marks three distinct phases of the farming calendar for the native crop of the state-paddy. Chirang, Jan 12 (ANI): Police arrested 12 militants and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from them on the third-day of operation in Assam. Superintendent of Police, Ranjan Kumar Bhuyan, said a joint operation with paramilitary forces was launched in the Manas reserve forest on the intelligence input. The militants belonged to banned outfit National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), which is fighting for a separate homeland for indigenous Bodo tribesmen, saying that the tea-growing state has been flooded with outsiders. NDFB(S) platoon commander killed in encounter

Kokrajhar, Jan 11 (ANI): Self-styled platoon commander of tribal militant group National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Sonobijit) was killed in an encounter with joint team of police and armed border force in Assam. Identified as Jwblang, he was involved in the December 23 attack on Pakhriguri village in Assam in which five tribal people were also killed. Last month over 80 people were killed in militant attacks in different districts of the northeastern state. Police believe that a faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), was behind coordinated attacks on tea plantation workers and their families. Kokrajhar, Jan 10 (ANI): In a joint operation, police and army arrested seven militants and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunitions in connection with attacks in Assam , which killed at least 80 people. Police believe that a faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), fighting for a separate state for ethnic Bodos, was behind coordinated attacks on tea plantation workers and their families in Assam. Sub-divisional police officer, Kokrajhar district, Ankur Jain said that seven militants were arrested of (NDFB).
