Aviation minister doesnt rule out privatisation for Air India

New Delhi, Nov 10 (ANI): Union Civil Aviation Minister, Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati, does not deny rumours of privatisation of national carrier, Air India, which has been struggling to stay in the air in the past few years. At a news conference in New Delhi on Monday (November 10), Pusapati said the future of the national carrier, which is dependent on taxpayer cash, was a matter of great concern for the country and hinted that suggestions for its privatisation were being considered. New Delhi, Nov 5 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of work towards achievement of targets in the connectivity-related infrastructure sectors of roads, railways, shipping and civil aviation. Talking about the Sagarmala project PM Modi said that the project must lay stress on 'port-led development'. PM during the meeting emphasized on the need for faster inter-ministerial coordination and resolution of issues. 102 Air India pilots found flying with lapsed licenses

New Delhi, Oct 26 (ANI): Air India has recently discovered that as many as 102 pilots of its wide body Boeing fleet have been flying without clearing a mandatory test that helps keep their licences valid and without which the same lapse. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had ordered Jet to remove its chief of training due to this serious lapse. Admitting the lapse of its training department, Air India wrote to DGCA saying that the route check of the 102 pilots was not done as per the required schedule that rendered their licences unfit for flying. Visakhapatnam, Oct 16 (ANI): Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju conducted a survey of the airport in cyclone-hit Visakhapatnam on Thursday and confirmed operations to be resumed on Friday. Cyclone Hudhud has left a trail of destruction in Visakhapatnam and the residents are struggling to cope with the havoc as they are facing food, water and power shortages.Visakhapatnam's airport remained closed for commercial flights, after the roof of its main building was blown off by gusts of up to 195 kph. Gajapathi took stalk of the situation at the airport and said that Vizag being a key destination it’s important to make airport functional, therefore, Air India and other airlines will be resuming operations from Friday.
