Indian Embassy in Sri Lanka got copy of verdict against fishermen: MEA

New Delhi, Nov 11 (ANI): The Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka obtained a copy of the judgment that gave death sentence to five fishermen, said foreign ministry spokesperson in New Delhi. The court has convicted five Indian fishermen on the charge of drug trafficking. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said that the embassy had approached best legal brains in Sri Lanka to appeal against the verdict. However, Akbaruddin refused to comment on the BJP leader Subramanian Swamy’s statement over the transfer of five fishermen to an Indian jail under a bilateral agreement. Earlier on Monday, Swamy had said the deadlock was broken after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa on the issue. Nov 11, 2014

Police exhume body of missing Australian woman in Andhra Pradesh

Puttaparthi, Nov 09 (ANI): Police exhumed body of Toni Annie Ludgate, a 75-year-old Australian national, from a spot on the outskirts of pilgrim town Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh, who went missing over two months ago. Reportedly, Ludgate was murdered by the security guard of her apartment complex with the help of two accomplices on August 28 as the guard was unable to return Rs 20,000 he owed her. Ludgate's family took up her disappearance with the Indian government through the Australian Embassy in New Delhi.
