Arun Jaitley launches 'Kisan Vikas Patra' to lure small investors

New Delhi, Nov 18 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday re-launched a certificate savings scheme in New Delhi to encourage investment for country's development. In a bid to encourage small savings among citizens, the successful scheme known as 'Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP)' or Farmer's Development Letter was re-launched. KVP are certificates issued by government of India that can be availed in the denominations of rupees 500, rupees 1,000, rupees 5,000 and rupees 10,000 at all post offices across India. Jaitley said that this scheme was intended to keep small investors away from fraudulent schemes that make attractive bids. Meanwhile, the investment made in the certificate scheme will double in 100 months and certificates can be issued in single or joint names and is transferable. The certificate can also be pledged as security to avail loans from the banks. Nov 18, 2014

No security anxiety with Bangladesh, says former Indian envoy

Dhaka/ New York, Nov 15 (ANI): Former Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Muchkund Dubey has said that the improved relation between both the neighbouring countries has resolved the issue of security anxiety. Dubey was addressing a gathering at the Bangladesh High Commissioners’ Summit held in Dhaka organized by University of Dhaka and the India-Bangladesh Foundation on Friday. Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, was the chief guest who inaugurated the event. Meanwhile, Ali, said talks with his Indian counterpart, Sushma Swaraj, in June on key bilateral issues, including Land Boundary Agreement and proposed Teesta river water sharing deal, during which the Indian side also raised the matter of illegal immigration, proved to be fruitful. Indian diaspora in Australia keenly awaits Modi's arrival

Sydney, Nov 13 (ANI): The near 300,000 strong Indian diaspora in Australia is eagerly awaiting the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Preparations are on in full swing for Modi's address in Sydney's Allphones Arena on Monday (November 17). Australian Committee Foundation organizer Balesh Dhankar, said within three days of announcing Modi's address, 21,000 registrations were received whereas the Allphones Arena has a capacity of only 16, 664. Meanwhile, an Indian student in Australia, Aditya Dubey, said Modi's popularity internationally made him want to attend this address. A non resident Indian in Sydney, Jasvinder Ramana, said Modi has become a favourite among the youngsters.
