Worsening Flood situation in J&K halt Shri Shakti Express, block national highway

Udhampur, Sep 07 (ANI): Floods, triggered by heavy downpour, in Jammu and Kashmir continued to wreak havoc on Sunday and lead to suspension of trains and blocking national highway due to mudslide. Pilgrims to sacred holy cave of Vaishno Devi were stranded as Katra region-bound Shri Shakti Express train was stuck for hours at Ramnagar railway station in Udhampur district. A passenger, Vinod Bansal said authorities were not providing any information on the movement of the train. Another passenger, Bagish Goyal said the authorities suddenly announced termination of the train without providing any alternative. Nearly 100 people have been killed due to floods in Kashmir as rivers in the region flowed above the danger mark due to incessant rains. Udhampur, Sep 06 (ANI): A train bound to Katra in Jammu and Kashmir was halted after landslides and heavy rains caused the tracks to clog. New Delhi to Katra bound 'Shri Shakti Express' train was forced to halt at the Ramnagar railway station in Udhampur district of the state. Passengers said since the train has stopped the authorities have not done much to improve the situation. The services of this train were started in July to facilitate the pilgrims visiting Vaishno Devi.
