Encounter underway in J&K's Sopore

Sopore, Jan 14 (ANI): A fierce encounter broke out on Wednesday morning between the militants and the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir's Chakan area of Sopore district. According to reports, one militant is trapped inside one of the houses in the area. The security personnel have cordoned off the locality and carrying out searches at some houses for suspected LeT terrorists, including their commander Abu Huzaifa. A joint operation from Indian army and police is underway where security forces are battling suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists. No casualties were reported till the last reports came in. NDFB(S) platoon commander killed in encounter

Kokrajhar, Jan 11 (ANI): Self-styled platoon commander of tribal militant group National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Sonobijit) was killed in an encounter with joint team of police and armed border force in Assam. Identified as Jwblang, he was involved in the December 23 attack on Pakhriguri village in Assam in which five tribal people were also killed. Last month over 80 people were killed in militant attacks in different districts of the northeastern state. Police believe that a faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), was behind coordinated attacks on tea plantation workers and their families. Pakistan's Supreme Court denies bail to 26/11 Mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi

Islamabad, Jan 07 (ANI): The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday setting aside Islamabad High Court's (IHC) decision, denied suspension of the detention of Lashkar-e-Taiba commander, Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, accused of plotting the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. According to the media reports, Pak SC declared IHC's order of releasing Lakhvi from jail as void and opined that the decision to grant bail to Lakhvi was taken in a hurry. The reports further stated that, Pak SC directed IHC to hear arguments of Lakhvi's lawyer and the Central Government of Pakistan. Earlier, the Islamabad High Court had ordered conditional release of Lakhvi and had asked him to deposit a security bond of Rs 1 million in response to his petition seeking an end to his detention.
