Srinagar, Sep 22 (ANI): Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Minister of State (MoS) in Prime Minister's officer (PMO) Jitendra Singh on Monday conducted an aerial survey of the flood hit Jammu and Kashmir to take stock of the situation in the state. Later, the ministers met with the state chief minister Omar Abdullah and discussed on the issues facing the state today. Gadkari further announced funds for the rehabilitation of the state. Sashastra Seema Bal, ITC & SRM University donates to PM National Relief Fund for J&K flood victims

New Delhi, Sep 20 (ANI): ITC Chairman YC Deveshwar on Saturday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and donated Rs.10 crore towards the Prime Minister`s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the flood-affected people of Jammu and Kashmir. Sashastra Seema Bal Director General BD Sharma also handed over demand draft of Rs.2.12 crore on behalf of the force for rehabilitation of the flood victims. Meanwhile, the founder chancellor of Chennai`s SRM University, TR Pachamuthu, donated Rs.1 crore for the PMNRF. 16 killed, 17 injured in bus accident in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand, Sep 13 (ANI): Sixteen people died and 17 others were injured after a bus fell into a gorge in Tehri district of Uttarakhand on Saturday. The bus was ferrying around 33 persons when it fell into a 300 feet deep gorge near Juyalgarh area on National Highway 58. After falling into the gorge, more than half of the bus submerged into a tributary which joins Alaknanda River. The bus was going from Rishikesh to Srinagar in Uttarakhand. The accident took place when the bus was trying to overtake another vehicle. Expressing deep shock at the loss of lives in the accident, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat announced a compensation of rupees 1,00,000 each to the families of the deceased and rupees 50,000 each for the injured. Jammu and Kashmir finance minister meets PM Modi over steps to overcome flood impact in state

New Delhi, Sep 13 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather on Saturday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed over steps to overcome the impact of flood situation in the state. Rather said that he requested the prime minister to declare it as a national disaster and give relaxation to the policies for fast relief of people. He said that he has asked PM to look at the issues like housing, employment, essential products and restoration of public buildings among many others to overcome the loss to the state. J and K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announces relief package for flood victims

Srinagar, Rajouri, Sept 13 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah announced a total package of Rs 200 crore for the state after it was hit by the worst floods in the last 60 years which claimed more than 200 lives in the region, besides causing immense loss of property. Omar announced a package of Rs 100 crore each to the Jammu and Kashmir division for relief and rehabilitation activities. He said Rs 3.5 Lakh will be given to the family members of those who died in the disaster. Abdullah also announced financial assistance of Rs. 75,000 as initial installment for those who lost their homes and free ration for six months. Meanwhile, Air Force helicopters were dropping relief materials to far flung areas in Rajouri district of the state which was cut-off for the last 10 days. Sep 13, 2014

Thousands left homeless as landslide ravages Poonch in Kashmir

Poonch, Sep 11 (ANI): A major landslide in Poonch district of Kashmir trapped many and rendered thousands homeless. The landslide, attributed to heavy rains, has disconnected the area from the rest of the state and is posing a major threat to relief and rescue operations.
