Security arrangement in place in Bodh Gaya, says Bihar DGP

Bodh Gaya, Dec 28 (ANI): Director General of Police (DGP) of Bihar, PK Thakur visited holy town Bodh Gaya to monitor security measures. Security has been tightened at holy Buddhist shrine Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya after the recent Taliban attack in a school in Peshawar. The DGP took stock of the situation in and around the temple and expressed satisfaction with the security. The holy shrine was last year in July hit by a series of bomb blasts that were described as “terror” attacks by the government. Two people were injured. The Mahabodhi Temple complex is the place where the Buddha is believed to have attained enlightenment. Buddhist scriptures describe Bodh Gaya as the "Navel of the Earth", where pilgrims and tourists from Sri Lanka, China, Japan and the entire of southeastern Asia throng to this holiest of Buddhist shrines every year. President, PM condemn the killing of innocents by Bodo militants in Assam

New Delhi, Dec 24 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday condemned the killing of innocents by the banned outfit National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) in Kokrajhar and Sonitpur districts of Assam. "President Mukherjee strongly condemns killings in Assam, says such acts of terror and violence must be put down with a firm hand," said the President's office tweeter handle. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi tweeted, "Killing of innocent people in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar is an act of cowardice. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased. Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid offers prayers at Sufi saint shrine in Ajmer

Ajmer, Dec 22 (ANI): Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid offered prayers at the historic 13th century shrine of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti at Ajmer in Rajasthan. Security arrangements in the city were beefed up during his visit in wake of Peshawar attack. Hamid arrived by a special helicopter and headed straight to the shrine. Hamid is on a six-day visit to India to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries. He is visiting India on an invitation by President Pranab Mukherjee, who visited Bangladesh in March 2013. Both were dressed in white Indian ethnic clothes ‘Kurta-Pyjamas’ and wrapped themselves in stole to beat the winter chill that engulfed the capital. “Shri Amitabh Bachchan met the Prime Minister,” read a post on the Twitter handle @PMOIndia, along with a photograph of the two of them. Soon after the meeting, Modi put up a photo of the meeting on his Facebook page. Seven killed in a road mishap in Uttar Pradesh

Jalaun, Dec 20 (ANI): Seven people were killed and few others injured after a lorry fell into a ditch in Uttar Pradesh state on Saturday. The accident took place in Jalaun district in the state. Police said the lorry was carrying around 40 people who were returning after offering prayers in a shrine.
