Election officials sent to polling booths via helicopters in poll bound Jharkhand

Gumla, Nov 24 (ANI): Election officials left for polling booths in the Maoist affected districts of Jharkhand via helicopters on Monday to prevent any untoward incidents ahead of polls that start Tuesday. Indian security forces had launched a massive anti-Maoist operation on November 11 to prevent any problem in the election process. District Election Officer, Gauri Shankar Mij said all necessary precautions are being taken in the Maoist affected districts for the polls. Maoists have called for boycott of the five-phased polls in Jharkhand that begin from November 25 and end on December 20. The results would be announced on December 23. An election booth officer who was sent via helicopter to a polling station, Arun Tripathi said their wish was to see high turnout in the polls. Nov 24, 2014

"The President of India has been pleased to appoint Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi, Governor of West Bengal, to discharge the functions of the Governor of Bihar, in addition to his own duties, until regular arrangements for the office of the Governor of Bihar is made," said a press communique issued by the President's Secretariat.
