New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): Janata Dal (United) leader KC Tyagi on Monday said that 130 Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) will meet Governor KN Tripathi and ask him to let Nitish Kumar to take oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar. Earlier on Sunday, Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi maintained that he will continue to retain the top post till the legislative council in the state assembly decides otherwise, adding that he will take the support of anyone who supports him on the floor. New Delhi, Feb 08 (ANI): Beleaguered Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Sunday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two leaders are expected to discuss the political situation in Bihar where an overwhelming majority of ruling JD (U) MLAs chose Nitish Kumar as their legislative party leader. Manjhi is in the national capital to attend the NITI Ayog meeting, where the prime minister sought chief ministers' feedback on Central projects. Patna, Feb 08 (ANI): JD (U) and RJD leaders on Sunday met Bihar governor Keshari Nath Tripathi over political crisis facing the state today. The parties appealed the governor to sack Jitan Ram Manjhi as he lacks majority and appoint Nitish Kumar as the new chief minister. Bihar JD (U) President Bashishtha Narayan Singh sai dtaht Manjhi is doing all this on order of BJP. New Delhi, Feb 07 (ANI): After Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi proposed the dissolution of Bihar Legislative Assembly, JD (U) legislators sacked Manjhi and elected former chief minister Nitish Kumar as party leader in Assembly. Kumar will soon return as Chief Minister of the state as the JD (U) legislative party elected him as the leader. The meeting was attended by 97 MLAs. After dismissing two ministers from his rival camp, Manjhi had called a meeting of his cabinet and thereafter proposed dissolution of Bihar Assembly. Bihar CM appeals governor to dissolve state assembly

New Delhi, Feb 07 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Saturday appealed Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi for dissolution of the state assembly in wake of the political deadlock in the state. Earlier in the day, Manjhi met his predecessor Nitish Kumar at the latter's residence. This meeting came at a time when speculations are rife that Manjhi will be sacked by the Janata Dal (United), with a view of reinstating Nitish Kumar to the top post. Earlier, Manjhi had sent a recommendation to Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi to sack two state cabinet ministers, Lallan Singh and P. K. Shahi, who are reportedly close to Nitish Kumar and also supporting the removal of Manjhi from his chief ministerial post. Agra, Jan 24 (ANI): Agra District Magistrate Pankaj Kumar on Saturday confirmed that US President Barack Obama cancelled his visit to Agra. The news of the cancellation of the scheduled visit comes a day before Obama is to visit India as the guest of honour for the 66th republic day celebrations. Obama was to visit Agra with his wife Michelle on January 27. They were to visit the Taj Mahal and spend an hour before leaving for Washington DC. However, Kumar said that the reasons for sudden change in programme are not known and that the reason is definitely not internal. Authorities baffled by mysterious death of fish in Gorakhpur

Gorakhpur, Jan 18 (ANI): Senior district officials and members of Pollution Department have rushed to Gorakhpur after thousands of fish were found dead in Rapti River. Officials have warned villagers not to take and eat fish as the exact cause of the death is not yet known. There was a mad rush of villagers to catch fish once the news spread. A senior district official, Ranjan Kumar, said they were probing the mysterious death of fish. Dr. Ranjana Tripathi of the pollution department said that the initial findings pointed towards toxicity in the river water. Local municipal authorities have also visited the spot and are in the process of cleaning the river with some chemicals. Jan 18, 2015
