AIADMK workers hold 'silent protest' in support of Jayalalithaa

Chennai, Oct 4 (ANI): AIADMK workers on Saturday staged a silent hunger protest in Chennai demanding the release of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. Jayalalithaa was convicted guilty in the disproportionate assets case and is sentenced to four years of imprisonment. More than 100 AIADMK workers along with seven from DMDK sat near the statue of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MG Ramachandran holding placards. A special court in Bangalore found Jayalalithaa guilty of "disproportionately" amassing about 530 million rupees outside her known sources of income. Washington DC, Sep 30 (ANI): In a rare gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Barack Obama jointly visited the memorial of Martin Luther King in Washington DC. Both the leaders together paid homage to the statue of the leader of African-American Civil Rights Movement.
