Chinese New Year: Chiswick House Gardens celebrates with Magical Lantern Festival

One of the UKs earliest examples of English landscape gardens has been taken over by bright and bold Chinese lanterns as part of Londons Lunar New Year celebrations. Clockwork lion sculpture unveiled in Trafalgar Square

The four bronze lions of Londons central Trafalgar Square got a temporary addition on 28 January, with a clockwork sculpture of the animal unveiled to highlight the plight of big cats. The statue, made of clockwork mechanics, will stand in the square for just a day before being auctioned off to raise money for National Geographics Big Cats Initiative, which says it aims to halt the decline of big cats in the wild. Sri Lanka: Over 350 confiscated elephant tusks destroyed

Sri Lanka has destroyed 359 elephant tusks on 26 January, after paying tribute with a Buddhist ceremony for the wild animals who lost their lives for them.
