Cake mixing ceremony in Vishakhapatnam heralds advent of Christmas spirit

Visakhapatnam, Nov 23 (ANI): Christmas and New Year celebrations began with the cake mixing ceremony as 150 kilograms of dry fruits were mixed with 24 litres of the finest spirits in The Gateway Hotel in Vishakhapatnam. At the hotel's lobby, scores of visitors participated in the annual ritual and enthusiastically arranged and mixed the colourful dry fruit with rum, vodka, brandy and other spirits. Chef Sarat Chandra Bannerjee said that this was organised to resume normal life after cyclone Hudhud struck the city in October. Meanwhile, tourists from Russia who participated in the ceremony said they thoroughly enjoyed participating in such a unique ceremony. The centuries old cake mixing ceremony is a ritual religiously followed all over the world and regarded as harbinger of good times. Nov 23, 2014

Celebrations begin before PM Modi_s arrival at Allphones Arena

Sydney, Nov 17 (ANI): Celebrations begin at Allphones Arena in Sydney on Monday prior to Prime Minister Narendra Modi_s address to the Indian diaspora. Dancing and singing was going on outside the stadium and excitement filled the air. Modi arrived in Sydney earlier in the day and was given a warm welcome by artists with a traditional dance performance. Meanwhile, thousands of Indian diaspora members arrived in the city to hear Modi_s speech at the Allphones Arena, in a retake of the Madison Square Garden event in New York. A cancer stricken cartoonist, Ramesh Chandra, who longed to meet Modi showed some cartoons he made for him and praised his leadership. Expat Indians expressed their excitement to meet PM Modi.
