Wild elephant goes on a rampage in Indian village

A wild elephant went on a rampage in a village in Indias eastern West Bengal state on 10 February, damaging around 100 structures, villagers said. The elephant strayed into Ektiasal village in Siliguri district early in the morning and woke up villagers with its roaring. Chinese New Year: Conservationists hope Year of the Monkey brings the species luck

Conservationists around the world are hoping that the Year of the Monkey will put the spotlight on the threat to primates worldwide and especially in Asia. Primate populations in Asia and particularly China are coming under increasing pressure from humans who hunt them for food, traditional medicine, for the pet trade and are destroying their natural habitat. World renowned primatologist, Dr Jane Goodall said she hoped the Year of the Monkey would bring the species luck. Feb 5, 2016
