Washington DC, Oct 1 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Barack Obama discussed trade issues, Ebola crisis and the fight against Islamic State militants during an Oval Office meeting. Modi said he sought Obama's support for continued openness and ease of access for Indian services companies in the US market, and he said the two leaders had a candid discussion about a trade agreement reached in Bali last year. Obama said that both the leaders had discussed issues of trade, maritime rules, space exploration, science besides working together on Ebola crisis in West Africa. Obama also discussed threat posed by Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in the Middle East. Pakistan arrests 25 Indian fishermen for violating its waters

Karachi, Sep 30 (ANI): Pakistan maritime authorities arrested 25 Indian fishermen and took into custody their four boats for illegal fishing in the country's territorial waters according to a police official. The arrest came after Pakistan detained 29 Indian fishermen on September 27, making a total number of detainees to 54 in two days. Karachi, Sep 28 (ANI): Pakistan maritime authorities arrested twenty nine Indian fishermen and took into custody their five boats for illegal fishing in the country's territorial waters, according to a police official. The arrested fishermen were handed over to police in the port city of Karachi for necessary legal action. According to maritime security agency, the fishermen were almost 10 kilometres inside Pakistan territorial waters when they were detained. Indian navy chief stresses on indigenous production of warships

New Delhi, Sept 25 (ANI): Chief of India’s naval staff Admiral RK Dhowan said on Thursday that joint efforts from industries, ship builders and foreign collaborators is required to have indigenous production of warships. He said in the past five decades, India’s growing maritime self-reliance facilitated the greater recognition of the role that India plays in providing stability in the region of Indian Ocean. Dhowan, during an event to commemorate the golden jubilee of indigenous warship design and construction at Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Bhawan in New Delhi, urged collaborators to synergise efforts for making warships in India.
