Naresh Agarwal defends party after SCs observation on Muzaffarnagar riots case

Lucknow, Mar 26 (ANI): Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal on Wednesday defended his party saying that it is wrong to play blame games in the Muzaffarnagar riots case. Agarwal also added that the perspective of government and judiciary is different. The Supreme Court on Wednesday said the Uttar Pradesh government had failed to protect the fundamental rights of people in Muzaffarnagar, where nearly 60 people were killed in riots last year. The apex court also pulled up the Central and State intelligence agencies for not alerting the Uttar Pradesh government on the impending riots.

Saamna hits at BJP over insulting Advani, Politicos react

New Delhi/Lucknow, March 22 (ANI): In his editorial in Shiv Sena's mouthpiece 'Saamna', party chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday targeted the BJP for treating senior leader LK Advani unfairly. Narendra Modi's era has begun, but that does not mean it is the end of the Advani era, said the editorial. Shiv Sena questioned the party for keeping Advani waiting on his seat for Lok Sabha polls. He said that this is an insult to Advani, his name should've featured in the first list. He also added that a person who was part of BJP's golden era was kept hanging till last minute. Reacting over the issue, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Naresh Agarwal said that the BJP's internal feud was open and that what Shiv Sena mouthpiece 'Saamna' said was to highlight the same fact. Congress and JD (U) too slammed BJP for treating Advani unfairly and said that there is no place for senior leaders in the saffron party.

Trouble for BJP: Jaswant Singh miffed over ticket distribution, politicos react

New Delhi, Mar 21 (ANI): Jaswant Singh, a sitting Lok Sabha MP from Darjeeling, wants to contest the polls from Barmer in Rajasthan. However, the BJP is keen on fielding Jat leader Colonel (retired) Sonaram, who quit the Congress to join BJP earlier this month, from Barmer. According to reports Jaswant, who is adamant on contesting from Barmer, will file his nomination on March 24 as an independent candidate if the BJP fails to give him a ticket from here. Reacting on this, SP leader Naresh Agarwal said that BJP is contesting for power and not the nation. Further, JD (U) leader KC Tyagi said that BJP is trying to attract businessmen and corrupt people into politics and that the party has got deviated from the path of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani. Meanwhile, BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi said that the party will take a decision soon.

Opposition backs Uddhavs criticism of BJP

New Delhi, March 13 (ANI): Various opposition parties have backed Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray’s veiled attack on the BJP in the party mouthpiece Saamna. Thackeray said that the Saffron Party has angered its allies. There are no saints left in politics these days and everyone is an opportunist. Instead of attacking its enemies, the BJP was hurting itself. Ali Anwar of the JDU hit out at the BJP and accused it of not abiding by coalition dharma. He said that this is precisely the reason behind the JD (U)’s decision to sever ties with the BJP. Meanwhile, Naresh Agarwal from the Samajwadi Party has said that the Modi wave is entirely a creation of the media and his association with small regional parties is testimony to his insecurity with regard to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Congress, however, refused to comment on the issue.

US court dismisses Devyani's indictment in visa fraud case, politicos hail verdict

New Delhi/Lucknow, March 13 (ANI): In major relief to Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade, a US court has dropped all charges against her. In a 14 page order, US District Judge said that Khobragade had full diplomatic immunity at the time of her indictment on visa fraud and underpaying her maid. The judge said, Khobragade served as Consular officer in the US from October 26, 2012 to January 8, 2014, a position that cloaked her with consular immunity as per the Vienna Convention. Meanwhile, political leaders welcomed the US court's verdict.

CEC announces LS polls schedule, regional parties react

Mumbai/ New Delhi, March 05 (ANI): After the Election Commission on Wednesday announced the schedule for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, the regional parties react in both positive as well as negative sense. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut welcomed the schedule and said that the party is ready for the battle and was waiting for the same.
