Mumbai, Sep 09 (ANI): Congress party in Maharashtra, on Tuesday extended help to victims in flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir and dispatched relief materials. Indian-administered Kashmir is experiencing worst flooding in 60 years, killing at least 175 and inundating homes, military bases and hospitals in region's main city Srinagar as the Jhelum river overflowed its banks. Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed it as a national disaster and announced 1000 crore rupees in disaster relief payments, as well as compensation to victims and their relatives. On Tuesday, the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee dispatched rubber boats to help rescue operations in the valley. Over 5000 people rescued from flood-hit areas in Kashmir

Jammu And Kashmir/New Delhi, Sep 08 (ANI): Indian army, air force and personnel of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) rescued more than 5000 people from flood-hit areas in Jammu and Kashmir and set up relief camps on Monday. The death toll from serious flooding in Kashmir climbed to 175 with homes, military bases and hospitals inundated in the region's main city Srinagar as the Jhelum river overflowed its banks. Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed floods a national level disaster and announced 11 billion rupees in disaster relief payments, as well as compensation to victims and their relatives. Singh further said that additional 62 boats were deployed as 108 were already pressed into service in the state.
