Worsening Flood situation in J&K halt Shri Shakti Express, block national highway

Udhampur, Sep 07 (ANI): Floods, triggered by heavy downpour, in Jammu and Kashmir continued to wreak havoc on Sunday and lead to suspension of trains and blocking national highway due to mudslide. Pilgrims to sacred holy cave of Vaishno Devi were stranded as Katra region-bound Shri Shakti Express train was stuck for hours at Ramnagar railway station in Udhampur district. A passenger, Vinod Bansal said authorities were not providing any information on the movement of the train. Another passenger, Bagish Goyal said the authorities suddenly announced termination of the train without providing any alternative. Nearly 100 people have been killed due to floods in Kashmir as rivers in the region flowed above the danger mark due to incessant rains. Udhampur, Sep 06 (ANI): A train bound to Katra in Jammu and Kashmir was halted after landslides and heavy rains caused the tracks to clog. New Delhi to Katra bound 'Shri Shakti Express' train was forced to halt at the Ramnagar railway station in Udhampur district of the state. Passengers said since the train has stopped the authorities have not done much to improve the situation. The services of this train were started in July to facilitate the pilgrims visiting Vaishno Devi. Woman claims of holding leopard by its ears before killing it

Srinagar, Aug 28 (ANI): The woman, who killed a leopard with a sickle, said she held the animal with its ears and made it fall on the ground. Kamla Devi survived half an hour fight with the leopard when the animal attacked her at a village in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. Devi fractured both her hands and sustained scratches and swellings, was critical and getting treated at Srinagar base hospital. Devi’s skull received 50 stitches. Floods disrupt livelihood in India

Supaul/ Siddharthnagar, Aug 20 (ANI): Floods in northern and eastern parts of India submerged huts and marooned villagers. Supaul district of Bihar remained on high alert and people were still sheltering in relief camps. About 30,000 villagers were evacuated in Bihar after threat of floods due to a landslide in neighbouring Nepal. The landslide, triggered by heavy rains in Nepal's Sindhupalchowk district, killed at least 33 people and created a mud dam blocking the Sunkoshi river, which flows into India as the Kosi river. A flood-affected villager, Kamla Devi, on Wednesday complained that the government did not provide them with any assistance. People were also affected after water was discharged from overflowing dams in Nepal.
