PM Narendra Modi inaugurates 240 MW Uri-II hydropower project in Kashmir

Baramulla, July 5 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 240 megawatt Uri-II hydropower project in the mountains of Jammu and Kashmir, barely a mile from the Line of Control (LoC), the de facto border dividing Kashmir between India and Pakistan. Modi dedicated the 240 MW Uri-II hydropower project to the nation built by NHPC at a cost of Rs. 2290 crore in Jammu and Kashmir. This is the second power project on river Jhelum in Uri area in Baramulla district and is located downstream of the 480-MW Uri-I project, which is already operational. Earlier in the day, Modi flagged off the inaugural train on a new stretch of railway to the town of Katra to Vaishno Devi. India proud developer of world's second largest telescope

Hyderabad, June 29 (ANI): World's second largest high-altitude telescope for detecting gamma ray emissions is ready to be transported from Hyderabad to Ladakh, where it will become operational by early 2016. Weighing 180 tonnes and mounted on six wheels, the Major Atmospheric Cherenkov Experiment (MACE) telescope has been developed and manufactured for the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in Mumbai by the Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) in Hyderabad. Addressing the audience at the flagging off event, Secretary of Department of Atomic Energy and Chairman of Atomic Commission, R K Sinha, said it gave great pride for India to own this telescope. Defence Minister Arun Jaitley visits Western Naval

Mumbai, June 07 (ANI): Defence Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday visited Western Naval Command to review the operational preparedness. Jaitley may get to see the salvaged INS Sindhurakshak submarine during his visit, which had sunk on August 14 last year after an explosion. During his visit to the Western Command, Jaitley will also commission two fast-attack craft ICGS Achook and ICGS Agrim, of the Indian Coast Guard. This is Jaitley's maiden visit as Defence Minister.
