Body of Indian fisherman, who died in Pak jail, awaits legal formalities

Karachi, Dec 14 (ANI): The body of an Indian fisherman, who died under mysterious circumstances in District Jail, Malir in Karachi, awaited legal formalities, an official at mortuary where the body is kept said. According to reports, 30-year-old Dev was arrested by the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency in March for illegal fishing in Pakistani waters in the Arabian Sea and was found dead in his jail barracks a few days back. Jail authorities claimed that Dev had died from natural causes after complaining chest pain and no torture marks were found on his body, it was reported. New Delhi, Dec 13 (ANI): Political leaders on Saturday condemned the death of an Indian fisherman in Pakistan jail. The 30 year old Indian fisherman, Devo Mand Kansaro has been found dead under mysterious circumstances in a jail in Karachi. Kansaro was arrested in March by Pakistan's Maritime Security Agency for fishing in the Arabian sea. Jail authorities claimed that Kansaro had died from natural causes after complaining chest pain. Political leaders demanded stern action against Pakistan by the Indian government. Pak arrests 58 Indian fishermen for illegal fishing in their territorial waters

Karachi, Dec 12 (ANI): Pakistan maritime authorities arrested fifty eight Indian fishermen and took into custody their ten boats for illegal fishing in the country's territorial waters, police said. The fishermen, who were arrested on Wednesday, had been handed over to Docks Police Station in Karachi for necessary legal action. The arrested fishermen have been charged under Foreign Act and Fisheries Act. Fishermen from both the countries frequently stray into each other territory and end up spending years in their jails. In May, Pakistan had freed 151 Indian fishermen ahead of Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's visit to India to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony. Navy Chief assures 'Transparency in Waters' against militant attacks

New Delhi, Dec 3 (ANI): Indian Navy Chief Admiral Robin K Dhowan on Wednesday said in New Delhi that post 26/11, suitable measures have been put in place to have "transparency in waters" in order to ward off the potential for another Mumbai-like militant attack. The Admiral said that 46 coastal radar stations, 74 automatic identification system stations have been established to ward off the potential for another ghastly attack. Addressing a news conference in New Delhi on the eve of the 43rd Navy Day, Dhowan said that the morale of the Indian Navy was at an all time high. Last month, Defence Minister, Manohar Parrikar commissioned the Information Management and Analysis Centre (IMAC). Meanwhile, Dhowan said that surveillance activities have also been stepped up. Forty Indian prisoners released from Karachi jail return back home

Amritsar, Nov 30 (ANI): 40 prisoners released from Karachi jail in Pakistan returned to India. The prisoners including 35 fishermen and five civilians reached Punjab via Wagah Border. Pakistan had released the Indian prisoners on Friday as a "goodwill gesture". The prisoners said that they were happy and thanked the Indian government for securing their release. The fishermen had been arrested for illegal fishing in Pakistani waters. One prisoner was arrested for illegally crossing the border. Pakistan and India routinely detain fishermen from entering each other's waters for fishing. They mistakenly enter other's waters as there is no demarcation of maritime boundaries. Nov 30, 2014
