Laxmikant Parsekar sworn in as Goa Chief Minister

Panaji, Nov 09 (ANI): Former Goa Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has been sworn in as the state's next Chief Minister after Manohar Parrikar. Parsekar took oath as the chief minister of the state and pledged to work for the welfare of the state and abide by the norms and duties ensued on him. He was administered oath by state Governor Mridula Sinha at Raj Bhawan in Panaji. Parsekar was earlier chosen unanimously as the chief ministerial candidate after a legislature party meeting. Manohar Parrikar, who is expected to become the next Defence Minister of the country, earlier resigned as Goa Chief Minister. With Parrikar's resignation, the entire state cabinet comprising 12 ministers was dissolved and the fresh cabinet also took oath along with the new chief minister. Nov 8, 2014

51 countries participate in World Junior Chess Championship in Pune

Pune, Oct 18 (ANI): Over 200 players from 51 countries converged in Pune city of Maharashtra to take part in World Junior Chess Championship. Winners of the championship, which will conclude on October 20, will be honoured with grandmaster titles and grandmaster norms. Participants from various countries including China and Russia are in the competition. Chairman of Maharashtra Chess Association Ravindra Dongre said that the junior championship is one of the most important chess events of the World Chess Federation. He further said that it will generate greater interest in chess among the budding players. Opposition slams govt over Black Money, BJP defends

New Delhi, Oct 18 (ANI): Opposition parties on Saturday slammed the government over black money case. The Central government had earlier denied to reveal names of those involved in black money and later said that names shall be revealed once proved guilty. NCP leader Tariq Anwar said that there is no difference between the previous UPA government and the new government because both did the same thing. Congress leader PC Chacko said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi owes an apology to the people of the country because he had promised them in the elections that black money will be brought back to the country. Meanwhile, BJP leader Sambit Patra defended the government and said that intention should not be questioned because of technology.
