Youth get training to make bamboo products in Manipur

Imphal, March 30 (ANI): All together 30 trainees are undergoing a one-month residential artisans' training programme on bamboo handicraft and furniture at the Naoremthong Laishram Khulem Leikai Community Hall in Imphal. The training programme is organized jointly by the Cane and Bamboo Technology Centre, Burnihat Assam and Lifeline Development Organisation and State Bamboo Mission, Manipur. The objective is to make the youth self-reliant and provide them a source of income. First modern sports stadium under construction in Jorhat

Jorhat, March 29 (ANI): One of the oldest sports fields of Assam, which is run by Jorhat District Sport Association, will be soon transformed into an international standard stadium. The sports complex is being constructed at a cost of over 6 crore. While the gallery is being sponsored by the Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resource (NLCPR) under the DoNER Ministry, the United Fund of Jorhat District Administration is funding the construction of the grounds and other facilities. The stadium will have a sitting capacity of 25,000 people. The project began in 2008-2009 and is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Kokrajhar, March 24 (ANI): In yet another case of suspected witch hunting in Kokrajhar district of Assam, villagers killed three persons of a family and dumped their bodies at Borjhora village in Monglajhora area. The deceased have been identified as Rajendra Brahma (70), his wife Bangali Brahma (61) and unmarried daughter. Police said that 11 suspects were arrested in connection of the case.
