Hardcore Maoists surrender in Odisha

Odisha, June 7 (ANI): Four rebels of a hardcore Maoist organisation, CPI (Maoist) surrendered before police in Koraput district of Odisha.The police said their case is being recommended for rehabilitation under the surrender policy of Odisha government.The surrendered rebels included the area committee member, Krishana Praska, the other rebels -Raju Hikoka, Kosai Wateka alias Nirmala and Durjana Mandingi and all belonged to Srikakulam-Koraput divisional committee of the CPI (Maoist).Inspector General of Police, South Western Range, Yaswant Jethwa, said the rebels were carrying a cash prize of around Rs 1 lakh.Four active members of Maoist organisation, CPI (Maoists), including area committee member, a member of technical team of Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee and two more active members have surrendered. Young models in Manipur showcase their talent at "Man Hunt 2014"

Manipur, May 18 (ANI): Models from Manipur looked stunning in traditional as well as modern dresses as they walked the ramp at the Man Hunt 2014 contest. All together 32 models from all the districts took part in the contest. That aims to promote harmony amongst the ethnic people of Manipur and encourage the youth to lead a healthy life. The event was organized by the Research and Self Employed Academy of Creative Arts in Ahariya and Fashion. Later the winner received a cash prize of Rs 30,000 and the subtitle winner received a cash of Rs 7000. Kozhikode, May 16 (ANI): Exotic varieties of mangoes tickled the taste buds of fruit lovers in Kozhikode city in Kerala state. The 21st edition of the mango festival, which began on May 08, has been organised by Calicut Agri- Horticultural Society and will conclude on May 18. Various varieties of mangoes were put on display including Alphonso, Kudadath, Banganampalli Malgova and the native Chakkarakkutty. Rare and indigenous varieties such as Chandrakkaran, Perakka Manga, Ammini and hybrid varieties like H4, Mallina, H44 and H151 also delighted the visitors. Meanwhile, there was also a mango eating competition which enthralled the audience. The participants were required to eat as many mangoes as possible. Jose Thomas emerged victorious who was rewarded with a cash prize and variety of mangoes to take home. A total of 35 participants tested their appetites with the crowds cheering and lauding for them.Mango, popularly known as king of fruits, is grown in different parts of the country. May 17, 2014
