North Koreans stage massive rally to denounce latest UN sanctions

Thousands of North Koreans staged a massive demonstration in Pyongyang on Wednesday (9 August), denouncing the latest UN sanctions against the Kim Jong-un regime. In a unanimous vote on 5 August, the 15 members of the United Nations Security Council slapped new sanctions on Pyongyang after it launched two intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) in July. North Korea has sent a staunch warning to the U.S. in response to unanimously approved sanctions adopted by the U.N. security council on 5 August.We are ready to retaliate with far bigger actions to make the U.S. pay a price for its crime against our country and people, said the government controlled Korean Central News Agency (NCNA). The sanctions are a direct response to Pyongyangs recent  intercontinental ballistic missile tests, which put the U.S. in range of an attack.
