Kolkata, Feb 05 (ANI): A Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) protest turned violent after cadres of the left party clashed with the police in Kolkata on Thursday. The protest, which was against the Mamata Banerjee-led state government, saw the agitators demand employment for all and a reduction in the price hike that the city has been witnessing in recent months. The police, after warning the crowd to disperse, lathi-charged the protestors, who fled at the onslaught. Feb 5, 2015

Mushaal Malik blamed India for the violence in Pakistan's troubled Balochistan province. Kashmir Day, or Kashmir Solidarity Day, is celebrated in Pakistan on February 5 every year, to express Pakistan's support and unity with the people of 'Indian-controlled Kashmir' and their ongoing freedom struggle. It is an internationally-recognized day observed by people, predominantly Kashmiris, not only throughout Pakistan and Pakistani Kashmir (Azad Kashmir), but also worldwide wherever Kashmiris reside. National youth festival in Guwahati sends out a message of peace and unity

Guwahati, Jan 29 (ANI): India's cultural diversity and youth power was on display at the Nehru Stadium of Guwahati as thousands of youngsters from all across the country came together for the 19th National Youth Festival. The five-day long event, which was hosted for the first time in the North East, was organised by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs in association with the State Government. Dressed in traditional attires, teams from different states took out a colorful procession presenting their culture. Union Minister of state for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and Union Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal who were present at the inaugural function urged the youth to channelize their energy for transforming the country. Indian cartoonists mourn death of RK Laxman

Pune/ Mumbai/ New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Indian cartoonists mourned the death of eminent cartoonist RK Laxman, whose "You Said It" cartoon featuring the 'Common Man' lampooned India's powerful for half a century. Laxman had been ill for two weeks and died of multi-organ failure at a private hospital in Pune city where he lived. Laxman's daughter-in-law Usha said that his body would be taken to Mumbai city to the Common Man statue where his admirers could pay their last respects. Indian cartoonist, Sudhir Tailang said that Laxman's demise was a major loss to the cartooning world. Another Indian cartoonist, Aseem Trivedi remembered Laxman for voicing issues faced by the common man through his cartoons. Jan 27, 2015
