Congress to remove Maharashtra, Haryana, Assam CMs, Politicos react

New Delhi, June 20 (ANI): Political leaders reacted differently as Congress is likely to remove the chief ministers of Maharashtra, Haryana, Assam on Friday. Party leader Rashid Alvi said that it is the decision of the party high command. JD (U) leader Ali Anwar said that changing the CMs won't change things, but the party should re-work on its principles. CPI leader D Raja said that it is for the Congress party to assess on their further proceedings and on how to gain the confidence of people. Meanwhile, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said that whatever the Congress party does, BJP will come to power in all states and changing the CMs won't show any positive change. Jun 20, 2014

Guwahati, June 07 (ANI): Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on Saturday visited Guwahati city in Assam to pay tribute to a Superintendent of Police and a policeman who was killed by a militant outfit. Rijiju, accompanied by state Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, paid homage to the martyr. He visited the state following the directive of Home Minister Rajnath Singh following the killing of the senior officer. The Karbi Peoples' Liberation Tigers (KPLT) militants killed a Superintendent of Police and another policeman in Assam's Karbi Anglong district on Thursday during police action. Situation returns to normal in violence-hit Bodo areas of Assam

Assam, May 17 (ANI): The death toll in the mayhem unleashed by militants in Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) has reached 36. The curfew, which was imposed on May 2, has been relaxed in Baksa, Kokrajhar and Chirang districts as no fresh violence was reported. The Assam government blamed Songbijit faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) for killing 36 people, all migrant Muslims. The Centre has sent a team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) to probe the matter and has deployed additional forces to maintain peace and calm. The ongoing 20th Senior Women's National Football Championship in Assam is witnessing a large turnout of people keen to watch the games.
