Birbhum gang-rape case: SC issues notice to WB government

Birbhum, Jan 24 (ANI): Taking suo moto cognizance of the Birbhum gang-rape case, the Supreme Court, describing the matter as "very disturbing", issued a notice to the West Bengal government on Friday. Chief Justice of India P Sathasivam also directed the Birbhum district magistrate to inquire into the matter and submit report in one week. Meanwhile, doctors treating the 20-year-old woman who was gang-raped by 13 men on the orders of a village court said that she is stable and recovering well even as state authorities assured cooperation.
