Mumbai, Sept 29 (ANI): After the break-up of Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Monday informed that the party's lone member in the Union Cabinet Anant Geete would also resign. The Union Minister of Heavy Industries Geete, is about to quit after Modi returns from his US trip on Wednesday. BJP, who after the breakup with Shiv Sena said that they have no enmity with them, is yet to take a stand on the issue. Shiv Sena after ending its alliance with BJP in Maharashtra, had earlier said that those who broke the alliance were enemies of Maharashtra. Sep 29, 2014

Writer from Sikkim gets a chance to be part of the In-Residence program at Rashtrapati Bhawan

New Delhi, Sep 29 (ANI): Journalist-turned-writer Yishey Doma Bhutia from Sikkim is one of four selected participants living at Rashtrapati Bhawan as a part of its in-residence programme for writers and artists. The young writer has to her credit a number of books like Legends of the Lepchas: Folktales from Sikkim and Sikkim: the Hidden Fruitful Valley. She has received the Sikkim Sahitya Samman for the year 2013. She believes that such programmes are a big encouragement for young writers like her. The In-residence programme for writers and artists was launched by the president in December last year. Besides Bhutia, the present batch comprises - Dr Vempalli Gangadhar, a Telugu writer and artists Pratap Morey from Mumbai and Rahul Saxena from Chennai. Reactions pour in after Maharashtra goes under President's rule

Mumbai/ New Delhi, Sep 28 (ANI): The BJP on Sunday hailed imposition of president's rule in poll-bound Maharashtra after former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan resigned. Chavan quit after the regional Nationalist Congress Party pulled out of the government over failure of seat-sharing talks with the Congress party. President Pranab Mukherjee signed the proclamation a day after the union cabinet recommended it. Congress said that the decision was arbitrary. The NCP said it was the President's prerogative. New Delhi/ Mumbai, Sep 28 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Sunday after a City Special Court on Saturday convicted AIADMK chief J.Jayalalithaa guilty in Disproportionate Asset case and sentenced her with a four year rigorous jail term as well as fined her with Rs 100 crore. BJP leader Muktar Abbas Naqvi said that the court has taken a decision but Jayalalithaa can still approach the High Court. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that when the political leaders who hold any constitutional position are convicted in the corruption cases, the people tend to lose trust from the leaders.
