Amritsar, Oct 11 (ANI): Devout Sikhs hailed the birth anniversary of fourth Sikh Guru, named Guru Ramdas across India on Wednesday. They chanted hymns in his praise while the illuminated Harmandir Sahib better known as Golden Temple at Amritsar in northern state of Punjab presented a grand spectacle. Hundreds gathered at this prominent Sikh temple to offer prayers on this auspicious day. Guru Ramdas is the fourth spiritual leaders of the Sikhs and he is believed to be the founder of the city of Amritsar. The Sikh religion originated with Guru Nanak (1469-1539 AD) who was succeeded by nine other prophets, Guru Gobind Singh (1666-1708 AD) being the last. Followers of Sikhism are identified by five visible symbols namely Cachucha (underwear), Kasha (uncut hair), Kanga (comb), Kara (iron bangles) and Kiran (dagger).
