Hornbill festival in Nagaland becomes major tourist attraction

Nagaland, Dec 24 (ANI): Showing their strength and unity! Members of Angami tribe pulling heavy stones was one of the major attractions during the recently concluded 14th Hornbill festival Kisama Naga heritage village near Kohima. A large number of domestic and foreign tourists, who gathered at the 10-day long gala event, were enthralled by traditional sports, folk dances and ethnic food. Events like a "Chilli" eating competition were the major crowd puller. The winner took away the cash prize of Rs. 20,000. The visitors also enjoyed body tattoo art as two international tattoo artists Heiko Gantenberg from Germany and Mo Naga from Nagaland shared a common platform at the festival. The aim was also to promote the indigenous tattoo art forms. The Hornbill festival has become an international event and attracts large number of tourists. Dec 24, 2014

Tamchon Football Tournament attracts many spectators in New Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): Thousands of football lovers from the national capital flooded the Dr Ambedkar stadium in Delhi to witness the closing ceremony of the eighth Tamchon Football tournament. A total of 16 teams, comprising of players from the northeast, participated in the tournament to promote peace, friendship and unity among the youth of the country. The final match between Hmar FC and Siamsinpawlpi (SSPP) attracted a large crowd. The event was organized under the aegis of Tanghkul Naga Society, Delhi with support from various government and private agencies. Such events help to make Delhi'ites aware of sporting talent from the Northeast. Hmar FC won by 6-5 over SSPP by penalty goal. The winning team received the winning Trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh while the SSPP FC bagged the runners-up trophy with a cash prize of Rs 3 Lakh. Dec 18, 2014

India condemns terror attack on innocent children in Peshawar

New Delhi, Dec 16 (ANI): Cutting across party lines, Indian political and social leaders on Tuesday condemned the attack by a terror outfit on a Pakistani school, terming it as 'inhuman', and adding that the Islamic Republic has fallen prey to its own Frankenstein's monster. Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi appeals people to save childhood

New Delhi, Dec 14 (ANI): Nobel Peace Prize winner, Kailash Satyarthi, acknowledged his countrymen for the recognition and urged them to listen to the voice of children, while addressing a conference upon his arrival in New Delhi from Norway on Sunday (December 14).
