New Delhi, Aug 26 (ANI): Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) challenged the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah to enlist benefits of special status. Article 370 of the Indian Constitution provides special status to the permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir such as separate citizenship, separate constitution and special property rights. The RSS has demanded repeal of this article, claiming that it encourages secessionist tendencies among a section of the population. Kumar also hit out at Kashmiri separatist leaders for meeting Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi ahead of foreign secretary-level talks with Pakistan. Aug 26, 2014

SC refuses to entertain 'premature' petitions against judicial appointment Bill

New Delhi, Aug 25 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain petitions challenging the 121st constitutional amendment by which collegium system for appointment of judges in higher judiciary was scrapped and a new mechanism under National Judicial Appointment Commission (NJAC) was proposed to be put in place. Sri Lankas Tamil leaders meet Sushma Swaraj

New Delhi, Aug 22 (ANI): A delegation of Sri Lanka’s Tamil National Alliance (TNA) met on Friday (August 22) India’s foreign minister Sushma Swaraj and they would urge New Delhi to ensure devolution of power to provinces in their country. TNA leaders would push their case for full implementation of the thirteenth amendment to the Constitution. They are also expected to call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The 13A amendment came into existence due to India -Sri Lanka accord signed in 1987 between then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and then Sri Lankan President JR Jayewardene. New Delhi, Aug 14 (ANI): The Speakers of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on Thursday adjourned the respective houses sine die. The budget session which ran for more than a month was adjourned sine die after the announcement by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari.
