Explosions rock Syrian town of Jarablus bordering Turkey

Explosions ring out in Syrian border town of Jarablus as Turkey-backed rebel forces advance in Syria as part of an operation to wipe out Islamic State militants from the border. The Turkish-backed operation aims partly to prevent the Kurdish Peoples Protection Unit (YPG) militia and Democratic Union Party (PYD)- the political wing of YPG - further expanding their influence in northern Syria. USS Independence: World War II aircraft carrier wreck explored for the first time ever

USS Independence aircraft carrier was purposely sunk off the cost of San Francisco in 1951, and now scientists have been down to explore the haunting shell of one of WWIIs leading light aircraft carriers. The dive was part of an expedition to explore the Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary and Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary by the EV Nautilus in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Naval Historical Foundation.
