Politicos demand Health Minister's resignation over sterilisation camp negligence case

Raipur, Nov 13 (ANI): Political leaders on Thursday demanded resignation of Chhattisgarh Health Minister Amar Agarwal after more than a dozen women died at a mass sterilisation camp. The leaders also demanded quick judicial inquiry in the case. Congress leader Shobha Ojha, said a proper investigation should be conducted into the matter. Meanwhile, NCP leader Majeed Memon, seconded Ojha and also demanded thorough action in the case. However, BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao said the government of Chhattisgarh has taken appropriate and exemplary action in the case. A police case against the doctor for causing death by negligence was filed in Bilaspur and he was arrested by the state police on Wednesday. Nov 13, 2014

Death of women at sterilisation camp in Chhattisgarh sparks protest

Raipur, Nov 12 (ANI): Hundreds of protesters took to streets in Raipur city of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday (November 12), demanding immediate action against Chief Minister Raman Singh and the state health minister for the death of women at a sterilisation camp. The protesters smashed vehicles and stopped them from plying on roads. They also entered the schools and destroyed property there. The angry protesters demanded that an FIR (First Information Report) be filed against Singh and the junior health minister, Amar Agarwal. Ten women died and 14 were in a serious condition after botched operations at a government mass sterilization "camp" in Bilaspur district.
