Russia: Tiny seal refuses to return to the wild

A tiny seal who was found by fisherman in March was released into the wild on 31 August, however, unlike his companion he didnt want to go. When members of the Friends of Baltic Seals Foundation tried to release the two seals named Pasha and Kroshik into the wild, after 15 minutes the smallest seal, Kroshik, decided to come back instead of going it alone. Kroshik was found by fishermen near the village of Sviritsa in the Leningrad Region on March 25 and was later looked after at the Marine Mammal Rehabilitation Centre. Norway: More than 300 wild reindeer killed in lightning storm

According to the Norwegian Environment Agency, 323 wild reindeer, including 70 calves, were killed on the Hardangervidda mountain plateau during a violent storm. A ranger found the dead animals later in the day, all lying close to each other. Five injured animals had to be put down. Aug 29, 2016
